About :
- Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) periodically conducts separate Common Written Examinations [CWE] for i) Recruitment of Probationary Officers(PO)/ Management Trainees (MT) and for ii) Recruitment In Clerical Cadre in 20 Public Sector / Nationalised and Other Participating Banks. Selection in 20 Nationalised Banks is by way of a two stage process:
- Stage I. Common Written Exam (CWE) by IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) and
- Stage II. Personal Interview
- IBPS conducts CWE for selection in twin cadres, Probationary Officers (PO) and Clerical
Eligibility :
- Age
As on the given date (generally, on the 1st day of the month of the advertisement of the exam):
- For CWE- PO/MT: Minimum 20 Years and Maximum 30 Years are only eligible to apply. For example, if the prescribed date for age is 01.05.2012, candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.5.1982 and not later than 01.05.1992 (both days inclusive)
- For CWE- Clerical: Minimum 20 Years and Maximum 28 Years. For example, if the prescribed date for age is 01.10.2012, candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.10.1984 and not later than 01.10.1992 (both days inclusive)
Relaxation of Upper age limit for both CWE- PO/MT and CWE- Clerical
- Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities: 10 years
- SC/ST 5 years
- Qualification
For CWE - Clerical:
- Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
- Candidates should preferably know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply.
For CWE - PO:
- Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

- 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates
- 600 /- for all others

The validity of the score will automatically expire at the close of business on 31-March-2016 with or without giving any notice.

Penalty for Wrong Answers
- For each wrong answer to an objective question, 1/4th or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question are deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score
- If more than one answer is given to a question, it will be treated as wrong even if one of the given answers is right and there will be the same penalty of 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question
- If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, the candidate will not get any marks for the question at the same time there will be no penalty for that question
Test duration
- Composite time of 120 minutes (2 hours) for PO and Clerical exams
