Day Two of placements at Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay saw two students--Aditi Laddha and Pranjal Khare--being picked by Uber. Oracle selected two candidates, Harsha Reddy and Kothapalli Krishna.
Four others--Chandra Mohan Soni, Mohammed Owais Khan, Ritesh Theranikal and Rachakonda Vishnu Theja--will join Microsoft in Redmond.
Apart from these international offers, several students will fly out to Japan as Murata picked seven, NEC selected six, Sysmex chose two and Schlumberger also took six candidates. The second day again had a line-up of several Japanese firms --Tanaka, Sekisui, Toyo, and Global Foundaries--that were busy on the Powai campus looking for talent. Day One saw several core companies, consulting firms, public sector undertakings (PSUs) apart from information technology firms. At IIT-B, 18 companies, including Google, Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Boston Consulting, Bain, WorldQuant, Texas Instruments India, Microsoft, GE India, Airbus Group India, Cairn India, A T Kearney, P&G and ITC, spent the day hunting for talent. Millennium Hedge Fund, with its big money, picked two candidates. In the second session, IIT-B will have students vying for openings in 11 companies, including PwC, Diac, Schlumberger, Flow Traders, Opera Consulting, IBM, Xerox, Uber International, NEC Corp, Sysmex and Murata Manufacturing from Japan. The overall selections with respect of numbers was good and is likely to sharply improve in the coming days, said Falguni Banerjee Naha, public relations officer at IIT-B.The Powai institute saw more than 150 offers with the participation of more than 32 companies on the first day. Among this more than 20 were international job offers. This year, the placement season at IIT-B will last approximately till December 17.
Start-ups participation will be comparatively less as compared to the previous years. At IIT-Madras, 89 offers were made in the first session of the second day. Companies that visited the campus included VMWare, ARM Embedded Technologies, Schlumberger, PayPal, Squarepoint Capital, Rolls Royce, Novi Digital, Indeed, Fractal Analytics, Cisco, Amazon, Directi, HSBC, CleanMax Solar, McKinsey Gurgaon Knowledge Centre, Next Education, Quantitative Brokers, Eaton, Code Nation, Analog Devices, Airbus, ANI Technologies, Rivigo Services, PayTM, Vedanta.
