Starting next academic year, admissions to firstyear junior college (FYJC) may go online in urban parts of Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan. Currently , only Pune and Mumbai conduct the admissions through a centralized online process.
“The entire process is undergoing changes after this year's admissions process is being reviewed. It is being proposed to extend the online process in seven other regions which are demarcated by the state board. The changes are still being worked on and a go vernment resolution to the effect will be issued once the details are worked out,“ said an official from the school education department.
The state might also change the software agency which carries out the process and also set a deadline for it.Another education department official said, “We will define a date for the admissions to be completed so that the academic year is not affected.“
This year, following HC's orders, the online admission process started in June, continued up to the end of September. The education department conducted 11 rounds of online admissions and still there were several complaints.
