A 20-year-old medical aspirant from Bihar was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his PG room in Kota on Saturday morning. This is the 16th such suicide committed by coaching students in the city this year.

He was rushed to a hospital by police where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.The police have identified the deceased as Nitin Kumar, a resident of Begusarai district in Bihar, who had come to the city, a hub of coaching institutes that train students for medical and engineering examinations.

Investigating officer, Meera Beniwal, said that Kumar was found hanging by two of his friends when they looked through the window after he failed to respond to repeated knocks. “The room was locked from inside and opened by the cops. Kumar used an old bed sheet to hang himself. We are conducting a probe into the case. We have informed the deceased's father,“ Beniwal said.

The deceased was living in a PG room in Kunadi housing board area of the city. His two friends who first saw him hanging live in a hostel close by. Kumar's father is serving as a doctor at a hospital in Bihar. The police have learned that Kumar had called his parents a few hours before hanging himself.

Police said no suicide note was found in Nitin's room. “We have found a paper on which it was written that he was sorry. We are speaking to his friends to understand if he was under some kind mental stress,“ said a senior police officer.
