Nisha Patil, a class XII student from Bhad gaon village of Jalgaon district, who rescued a six month-old child trapped inside a house on fire, has been selected for the National Bravery Awards. Nisha is among 25 children from across the country chosen to receive the awards from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 23.

On January 14, 2015, when Nisha was on her way back from college, she saw her neighbour's house on fire, and six-month-old Purvi was trapped inside, an official said. “Displaying immense courage and alertness, she jumped into the house and got the baby out,“the official said.
