An inter-school kite making and designing competition, Kite Fiesta, was organized by Times NIE in association with Brainwonders at Growel's 101 Mall in Kandivli on Tuesday .

Held for the western zone, it had students participating from various schools located between Mahim and Virar.The event was divided in two categories--junior category for students of class IV­VI, senior one for students of class VII­IX. Kyraa Lobo (class V) of Canossa High School, Mahim and Pratham Naik (class IX) of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir, Bandra won in the junior and senior categories respectively .

The event, which celebrated the festive spirit of Makar Sankrati, witnessed huge participation of students, who put their best foot forward and used the platform to showcase their creative skill.

The event was judged by G GWaghmare, former dean, Sir J J Institute of Applied Art; M K Wanjari, head of department of sculpture department, Sir J J School of Art. Ac tor and reality TV star Sahil Anand was the chief guest for the event.

Participants picked a variety of themes ranging from Swachh Bharat, de monetization, beti bachao movement and other social causes to their favourite animals and birds.

Manish Naidu, CEO of Brainwonders said, “This event is a great opportunity for us to interact with kids and their parents and encourage them to recognise their capabilities and choose their careers accordingly . Brainwonders helps identify the potential of students and this event has made it possible for us to help parents understand their children better. The three-hour-long event saw students engrosed in putting elaborate ideas and great effort together.
