A 16-year-old student has complained of sexual harassment by a teacher during her junior college examination. In her FIR, the girl also stated that the accused flashed him, besides touching her inappropriately, while she was answering her paper.

The incident took place at a junior college at Revdanda, Raigad district, around 18 km from Alibaug. Police have registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and section 354A (sexual ha rassment) of the IPC.

Assistant inspector Abhasaheb Patil of Revdanda police told TOI: “As per the victim's statement, the incident occurred on the morning of January 17. She first filed a written application with the college principal, later on January 19 she lodged an FIR.“ He added the teacher is missing since the time the girl complained about it to the college authorities.

According to the FIR, while the exam supervisor was clarifying the Class XI student's doubt in the exam, the accused stood next to her for around 15 minutes. “The girl stated he touched her inappropriately and unzipped his trousers to expose himself. After the exam, she complained to the college principal about it, “ said Patil. Police will also question other students in the classroom.

Youth gropes girl at college, held

Mumbai: A 23-year-old waiter with a catering firm was arrested on Friday for molesting a 17-year-old student on her college campus. The incident happened on Tuesday when the accused, Deen Shaikh, had gone to the campus to work at a private event. Santacruz police said that when Shaikh saw a group of girls leaving the exam hall, he went behind them and groped and kissed one of them.

He has been booked under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act besides the IPC. Investigators have learnt that Shaikh had been arrested by railway police and Nirmal Nagar police in the past for similar offences. TNN
