A Class VII student, Alina Chakravorty, went missing from near her school in Powai on Tuesday. While taking the head count, Alina's teacher realized that she had come to school, but did not made it to class. Two teams from the Powai police are searching for Alina, who was dropped at the gate of Hiranandani Foundation School by her mother, Divangana, around 8.15am.

Initially, the teacher was about to mark Alina absent when two of her classmates told her that they has seen her near the school premises. “My wife escorted Alina to the school, which has two entry gates. She left her at the entry gate as Alina has go to in another direction to her classroom, while Divangana took our son to drop him to his class. We did not notice anything suspicious in her behaviour, “Alina’s father, Anandiya, told TOI. Anandiya, a lawyer, said they learnt that their daughter had gone missing after they received a call from her class teacher an hour after she was dropped to the school.

“The school has four-five CCTV cameras, but police were unable to retrieve footage, so they are examining footage from neighbouring buildings. The police have registered a case of kidnapping and teams has been formed to trace her, “he said. Bhai Mahadeshwar, senior inspector of Powai police station, said, “We are probing the case from all angles. I cannot reveal much, but we have formed teams to trace the girl.
