With an aim to curb the trend of multiple admissions, Madhya Pradesh technical education department has made Aadhaar card mandatory for students to pursue engineering studies from 2017-18 academic session.
The department will kick off the registration process for admission counselling in the second week of May . After switching to online admission process, the technical education department has been making concerted efforts to make the entire process smooth. In this series, the department has decided to make Aadhaar number mandatory, stated the authorities.Sources said the department has been receiving regular complaints about multiple admissions of students in colleges during counselling. Department officials said by ma king Aadhar mandatory , multiple admission issue will be completely resolved.
Multiple admissions have been a major problem for the department. In 2013, police busted a multiple admissions scam that had forced the authorities to slap Rs 1lakh fine on both students as well as colleges.
Chided for hairstyle, boy commits suicide
A 15-year-old boy who recently wrote his SSLC exams committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near north Coimbatore after his parents scolded him for his new hairstyle. The deceased was identified as Sabarinathan, son of Moorthy from Alagappa Chettiyar street at Tatabad.Moorthy is an electrician and his wife, a daily wage labourer. TNN
